His reasoning is simple enough. He uses the Oceans and islands analogy to say that,


Blogosphere is an island (includes social bookmarking sites), it will help promote and improve mainstream media. If yahoo buys Digg and integrates with the existing services of yahoo, it will be like Microsoft buying Linux OS and packaging in a Windows box. Can you make linux users use windows?





His advice to Yahoo is to focus on its own mainstream content plans and leave Digg to the fascinating and constantly churning ‘Island of Blogosphere’.
