Richard BransonRichard Branson has made a call for greener airlines to tackle climate change. He said that if the airlines, airports and governments worked together, up to 25 percent of the world’s aviation carbon dioxide emissions could be reduced.

He is now urging others to support a cross-industry forum to fight global warming. Last week, he has pledged Virgin profits worth $3bn towards renewable energy initiatives.

Today in New York City, he is going to make a speech outlining proposals that he believes would save over 150 million tons of carbon emissions annually.

He said;

With global warming, the world is heading for a catastrophe. The aviation industry must play its part in averting that.

It is indeed a commendable initiative by Branson. The more such industry leaders join the fight against global warming, the better the chances are to save the world.
