Cory Doctorow takes a detailed look at the objections of book publishers against Google’s Book Search Plans.



One Interesting argument,

They argue that GBS should pay some money to publishers because anyone who makes money off a book should kick some back — but no one comes after carpenters for a slice of bookshelf revenue. Ford doesn’t get money from Nokia every time they sell a cigarette-lighter phone-charger.





Cory argues that, actually, Gooogle Book Search will be good for Publishers’ business margins.



Interestingly, I have found that most individual publishers, aka authors will readily opt for Google’s Book Search Model. It gets them exposure. For them, Google Book Search is the equivalent of the revolution wrought by Music downloading.
