I don’t think chip firms would feel down as the international price of memory chips are expected to down 20%. Hynix feels that price of Nand chips normally used in the digital cameras and music players will drop as good as 25% in the first quarter of 2006. The market, the leading chip maker believes, is over supplied and says the drop in first quarter is “sharper than expected.”



Analysts also are not much worried about the sudden dip. They think the market will rejuvenate in the summer itself. Hynix presently enjoys a market share of 16.8%. Samsung is the market leader in the segment which holds 50.4% whereas the distant second spot owned by Toshiba with 19% only.
