Increasing oil prices and growing Asian rivals’ presence in US market had littered Ford’s income. After derailing from No 2 spot of biggest automaker, Ford were continuously loosing profit and it’s once most liked gas guzzling SUV and trucks lost their shine to fuel efficient vehicles.
Automaker has implemented its rejuvenated plan to foray back into the market with its known huge profit. Company has slashed thousands of workers and locked its lose making units. In spite of these entire effort fords’s resent quarter result again downgrade its hope.
But the J.D. Power and Associates, a consulting firm, which released annual initial quality rankings, give reason to boost their moral as tormented automaker grabs five individual awards than any other automaker for the first time since 1998, when it tied for the top spot. Ford ranked highest in five of 19 segments in this year’s survey.
Ford grabs three awards in 1998. The Dearborn, Mich., automaker earned segment awards for the Ford Mustang, Lincoln Mark LT, Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Milan and Mazda MX-5 Miata. Mazda is 33.4 percent owned by Ford.
This year ford surpass market leader Toyota Motor Corp. Toyota had three models rank first, a sharp drop from placing first in 11 categories last year.
In the overall brand rankings, Porsche and Toyota’s Lexus took the first and second spots, respectively, as they did last year. But four Ford brands placed in the top 10, including third place for Lincoln. The Jaguar, Mercury and Ford brands placed tied for sixth, eighth and 10th, respectively.
General Motors Corp. grabs three awards tied with arch rival Toyota, including the Pontiac Grand Prix placing ahead of the Toyota Avalon in the large-car category.
California-based J.D. Power, collected responses from more than 97,000 buyers and lessees of 2007 model-year vehicles after 90 days of ownership. The survey included 228 questions and asked for information specifically about design and production, such as defects and malfunctions
As this study is based on the consumers’ observations about the vehicles, result shows that automaker is returning to create another successful story in the history of automobile.
