France recently launched a Web site http://www.geoportail.fr to allow people to gain access to the detailed satellite images of France. Further, it claims that the web site gives greater detail of France in comparison with Google Earth.
Google Earth has come under intense criticism of this service as it allows its users to zoom in a chosen location. It has been argued that the terrorist may use the services as it will help them to plot an attack.
However, French President, Jacques Chirac advocated the need of this service.
Google-watchers might say that it is more of a pride-thing, actually.
