Google can acquire ThinkFree Online; Is this Microsoft’s Worst Nightmare?

Software Giant Microsoft is under threat from the Search Engine Giant Google. Google has recently acquired YouTube and they are also considering acquiring ThinkFree Online. ThinkFree Online is a well built Suite of Office like applications. The most important point is that for using ThinkFree you don’t have to spend even a single penny. The suite offers MS Office compatible applications such as Write, a word processor; Calc, a spreadsheet and Show, a presentation application. All the applications in the suite have the same look and feel as is there in the Office applications. Moreover the application also offers the ability to create, edit and save documents in Microsoft Compatible formats. ThinkFree also offers the users a 1GB storage space so that you can save your documents from any internet connected computer around the globe. The web application is supported on all major platforms such as Windows, Mac and Linux. ThinkFree also offers a desktop-based Java Version and a server version. This can be the worst nightmare for Microsoft who is planning to release the latest version of Office 2007 in January. Office 2007 will cost somewhere in between $AU690 to $AU1150 depending on the versions you want to purchase. If Google acquires ThinkFree then they can strongly compete with Microsoft in the Office business.
