Rexblog has got it right,
It’s strange to watch Google playing catch up with Yahoo on this and several other fronts.
How the Music Search on Yahoo and Google works:
Suppose you were a Dido fan, then in True Google’s simple fashion, you just type it in the search box, like,
music:Dido (type in the search box)
At Yahoo, it is a two click process:
First you go to :audio.search.yahoo.com and then type Dido in the search box.
Google must also quickly add podcast search to the service.
The other point to ponder:
What if Google, like its much-controversial Print program, started to index all the audio files of the world and link to them? That would certainly get RIAA’s full attention (more so if song lyrics were also included the index). Do we expect leagl fireworks soon?
I wish Google had made music search Web2.0 friendly, like it is trying with its personal home page initiative (similar to Yahoo MyWeb) I will say it again (until some bloke at Google reads this column), Google must do something about lessening the ‘web2.0′ gap between it nd Yahoo.
