1. Despite all this year-end prediction of 2006 being a ’so-so to bad’ year for Google, the champion will march far ahead of Microsoft and Yahoo.
2. The Wikipedia co-founder’s new venture will fail. When will people stop being less egotistic and less stupid.
3. Vista will not be big success. Anyway, Google will preempt by ‘baby steps’ move towards full online workplace which will nullify the need for a bloated new Operating System. Soon, the web will be the only Operating System.
4. There will three-four other blog networks that will attract investors’ attention. Some more will get ‘Gawker-like’ content deals with traditional media companies.
5. All the ancillaries of blogging like Blog search engines and Tag sites, will shut down as the big guns will have their own or will bought them out.
6. Technorati will slide further. Google Blogsearch will pick up steam.
7. Video Blogging will pick up steam.
8. More blogs will try to produce content that they can monetize in various other ways.
9. More blogs networks will realize the three ways to heaven: Sex blog, Bitching Blog and Latest Gadget/doodat blog.
10. After the political journalists, it is time for established business and technology journalists to start their own blogs and sell content to newspapers and other media.
11. Blogging will pick up steam in Asia, especially India and China - the freedom to express oneself can’t be shut down by any government. You may hear about Proxy servers hosting blog networks. In Asia, the game has only begun.
12. Ebay will come to realize that its Skype buy was nice gift for the Kazaa founders and nothing more.
13. The New bill pushed by a cabal of Congressmen and Hollywood players will fall.
14. Craigslist will cause more heartburn to newspapers.
15. Google will buy Gannett and install its Click-to-call button beside every classified on the Gannett network.
16. Enough of web2.0 talk. We need more of implementation and success stories. That means that now the silly investor money will flow in. The best users of web2.0 technologies will be the usual old companies, Google for example.
17. US Automakers will have another dismal year. More layoffs, more Asian cars on the streets.
18. Apple will launch a much, much better version of Rokr - an Apple iPhone is soon on the way.
19. 2006 will also be the year when Wirelss Entertainment takes off in a big way.
20. Something unexpected will eventually happen which will make all the above predictions look small in comparison. The search for that reclusive inventor in that remote garage is on.
