The Financial Times has recently reported that SAP the world’s biggest software group, is open to offers of acquisition by U.S technology groups. It is learnt that Hasso Plattner, supervisory board chief at the German group, said in an interview that the company is open to an acquisition. According to him there are only three potential buyers namely IBM, Microsoft, and Google who can pitch in the fray.
Plattner is the only one among four co-founders of the company who still holds a post within the company. Holding 12 percent of company’s share Plattner is likely to act in the interest of all shareholders. However, it is not clear yet whether the company will go for a combination or remain independent.
An acquisition of SAP would involve a huge amount of money as its market capitalization stands around more than $64 billion that too when the company is in the middle continuing massive organic growth.
