Microsoft has confirmed that it will soon acquire Massive Inc. It is being speculated that they are in process to finalize the modalities of the deal with the Australian owner, Mitch Davis, of the company. This is one of many steps of Microsoft taken in order to match Google.
This deal can be dubbed as a strategic take over as Microsoft is planning to generate advertising revenue by integrating ads into video games. Microsoft will use Massive’s software in its Xbox gaming console to consolidate its position in online advertising.
As of now the details of the up-coming deal have not been made public. However, industry is speculating that it would take something around $ 260 to $ 520 million to ink the deal.
According to industry’s speculations the worth of on-line video game industry would likely to shot up at more than $ 700 million by the year 2010.
