With the significant rise in mobile phone earnings, NEC Corp has declared triple profit this year. Moreover, expenditure has reduced a lot with semiconductor units. On March 31, the 12 months net income will be whopping sum of 30 billion yen (US $247 million). Tokyo based NEC has declared that net income of last year was 9.1 billion yen will overtaken by this year income. In November, company switched from United States GAAP. From then onwards whole year earning are according to the Japanese accounting standards.

More profit is being expected to be made by NEC as costly handsets are the major attractions this year in China. Moreover, some stores are also in the process of closing. Before the profits were declared, a Tokyo based analyst working with Morgan Securities Asia PE, Yoshiharu Izumi stated, “The Company should benefit from an improvement in the chip business and continuing strong demand.”

According to him stock of company is “underweight”. 4.65 trillion were the estimated sales, but profit remain at 70 billion yen. A 68 billion yen profit was declared from the retirement fund in February. On 31st March with the end of fourth quarter, 16.44 billion yen was the net income as compare to an earlier loss of approximately 25.1 billion yen.

Takao One, the Chief Financial Officer has stated that NEC is expecting an annual profit as compare to the loss of 35 billion yen in the mobile business. This year mobile-phone shipment is expecting to fall flat five million units as compare to 5.6 million. But, sales of approximately 350 billion yen will remain constant.

Approximately six billion yen will be the operating profit of mobile-phone and other units such as handsets, PCs and Internet services as compare to the last year loss of 33.5 billion yen. On May 14, third-biggest semiconductor maker of Japan, chip unit NEC Electronics Corp has declared to narrow net loss from 41.5 billion yen to 15 billion yen this year.
