The news is that Google CEO Eric Schmidt has joined Apple’s board of directors. So what’s the big deal? Well, it is a big deal of course! Speculations are all over the blogosphere on what is cooking up between Google and Apple.



Some speculations are so wild that it is almost hilarious to even imagine like whether Google and Apple are planning a mega merger. Some are even suggesting that Apple is actually grooming Schmidt as replacement to Steve Jobs when he bids adieu to the company.



I can only say that corporate bigwigs joining board of directors of other companies are a common phenomenon. They are usually in the advisory panel and nothing else. Mark Evans wonders if it is much ado about nothing. However, there may be more to what meets the eye here. It would be wonderful to know your view on this.
