Sony has displayed the eagerly-awaited Pearl VPL-VW50 1080p SXRD, successor to its Ruby VPL-VW100 front projector. It is smaller, cheaper and more efficient than its predecessor.
This projector has some great features like .61-inch microdisplay powering the RPTVs and a 200-watt lamp producing 900 lumens of light.
This can also support Blu-ray or HD DVD player of the future easily. In addition, this allows image projection up to a distance of 300-inches just like its predecessor Ruby with a contrast ratio of maximum 15,000:1.
Price: 42,000 yen (360 US dollars).
Expected Launch: October 20 (though I am not sure whether it would be a Japan only release that day).
