While the Mainstream Media is facing the rise of the blogs and the online world in General, the PR industry in the Silicon Valley is in hyperdrive. Till now, the PR guys’ main job has been to raise the profile of their clients in the Mainstream Media. Companies may be better off with spending their money on Search Engine Marketing among other things.



Tom Foremski at the Silicon Valley Watcher says,

...companies still think that being mentioned in the mainstream media is going to help them sell more products and services.



There is a serious disconnect here.





Is this a paradox aplicable to just the Silicon Valley?
