For the first time Toyota has given GM a run for its money in the car race. Toyota has emerged as the world’s largest auto seller in the first quarter of 2007. Experts predict that this year Toyota will hold the crown for the worlds top car producer a title which GM had cling on to for the last seventy six years.
Let’s look at the reasons as to why Toyota is inching closer towards the title:
It has been investing in environment friendly cars which are the need of the future.
The company has been churning out sharp new models to the amazement of the customers.
It has been wooing the customers with brand power.
Its models such as Prius and Camry have been selling like hot cakes and GM seems to have no answer for the strategies of Toyota. In the first quarter Toyota sold 2.35 million vehicles as compared to 2.26 million vehicles by GM. Also in terms of profitability GM has suffered a setback. GM is on the road to restructuring whereas Toyota is expanding like anything and here you can see the difference. Looks like the golden era for GM is over for now.

toyota, along with honda is one of the best cars around, i just don’t see gm as one because of their series of poor cars in their lineup...
Good job by the Japanese automaker. Hats off to them! They did a really great job!
